  2. What is it?
  3. Amplify adjusts the amplitude (volume) of a sound or envelope.

  5. How to use it
  6. Selecting Amplify from the menu will bring up a dialog box with the following four parameters, Amplitude, Amplify By Percent, Set Amplitude Level, and Normalize.  The default parameters will double the amplitude of the sound.

  8. The Amplitude field can have a range of 0 to 999%.  It controls how loud to make the sound.

  10. With the Amplify By Percent radio button selected, the sound will be amplified by the percent in the Amplitude field.

  12. With the Set Amplitude Level radio button selected, the sounds amplitude will be set to the level in the Amplitude field.

  14. With the Normalize radio button selected, the sound will be amplified as much as possible without any clipping.

  16. Notes
  17. For best results you should not amplify the sound so much that a lot of the sound is clipped (chopped off).

  19. Sometimes you may want a lot of clipping, for example, making an acoustic guitar sound like an electric guitar.  Try amplifying it 999%, Filtering it 50%, and adding a little reverb.
